Welcome to RAWfoto.com offering spectacular landscape, media and action images from around the world, by nationally recognized award-winning photographer Richard W. Allen. Mr. Allen began his photography career in 1974 covering distinctive news invents of international interest.
While on assignment for SIPA Press and Gamma Liason (the European equivalents of United Press International (U.P.I.) and Associated Press (A.P.)) Mr. Allen covered a variety of sporting and newsworthy events such as the 1976 Republican Presidential Convention, the Evel Kneivel Snake River Canyon Jump, the first landing of the SST in the continental USA, and a variety of professional sporting events from the NFL (National Football League) to the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association). |
After a few years of following the media trail he began a free-lance career that included assignments and publication in many prestigious national publications including Newsweek, Time, National Geographic, Architectural Digest, Personnel Journal, Sports Illustrated, and Sailing Magazine.
During his free-lance career Mr. Allen was instrumental in the start-up of two award winning regional publications, Steamboat Magazine and Vail Magazine that successfully continue operations today. Mr. Allen was the initial chief photographer and photo editor in charge of all feature and advertising photography for both publications.
This led to the formation of RAW Studios, a full line commercial photography studio that went on to satisfy such esteemed clients as The Sheraton Corp., J.C. Penney’s, the Ford Motor Company, and the Steamboat Ski Corporation.
During recent years Mr. Allen has turned his photographic interests to what he loves most, nature and the world around us. We hope you enjoy viewing the wide variety of images on this website that range from Mr. Allen’s early days in media to some of his more recent breathtaking landscapes. |
